OTHER N.B.S. ACTIVITIES
The society continues to aim to be seen outside the area, as a society, and takes pride in the activity of its members who fly the flag for the fancy in the NBS area, be it in directly representing the society, or in supporting some of the many shows which are staged by other societies, in other areas. A goodly number of our members have a natural affinity with the fancy in Scotland and support shows North of the Border whenever possible....
But, before recalling past glories, an acknowledgement that the Northern BS IS its members, and the activities that they pursue at their local societies and in staging their own local shows. Pleases support as many of the following as you can, plus the other societies/shows with which we share patronage - also listed below :-

The B.S. Club Show, of course, is one society where the N.B.S is an ever-present. We have manned a stand at this event every year since the concept was introduced, and we responded to that first invitation, when Arthur Bracey was Show Manager, in the 1960's - the show was held at The Granby Halls, Leicester, in those days. Alas, few of us remember such now, but the tradition continues, thanks to our General Secretary and a regular team of participants over the years.
It is also pleasing to note that so many of our members take part in the organisation of the show, in many different ways. This effort is led by our Chairman, Norma Phillips who carries out the vital job of Patronage Secretary for the show - a demanding job, carried out with a minimum of fuss.
Regrettably, we do not always manage to persuade our members to support this event with their birds, despite the fact that our Area borders the home of the club Show at Doncaster. 2008 saw a particularly poor turn-out. Hopefully 2009 will be better, but meanwhile, let us glory in the achievement of Richard & Michael Miller, who are NBS members, and to Charlie Bowman, who is an active participant in the vast majority of NBS activities.
A picture also of Michael Chapman, winner of the R McCreaddie Memorial trophy ( for more recently-joined members, Dick was a much valued Chairman of this society until his untimely death.
Nearer home, The Northern BS panel remains available to attend the monthly meetings of affiliated societies, and of course will extend this to other societies.
Most recently, they visited Sunderland BS, on Monday, September 29th, and this time, the panel comprised, Linda Heighton, Don Rowell and Colin Wright, who did the society proud with an informative and entertaining evening.
Apologies for absence were received, on this occasion from our Chairman Norma Phillips, but Don sat manfully in her stead and did so with great aplomb. See Sunderland BS website for a more full report
